New Roots Essential Oil - Clove Bud | 15 mL*

Description

Used in aromatherapy topically to help relieve toothache. Used in aromatherapy to help relieve colds/cough.

Syzygium aromaticum is the Latin name for a tree whose buds, called cloves, are one of the most valuable spices. They have been used for centuries as a food preservative and for their many medicinal purposes. Cloves stand out above oregano, mint, thyme, and cinnamon for their high antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. New Roots Herbal’s 100% pure essential oils are steam-distilled to extract these valuable medicinal ingredients.

Clove bud oil is one of the most potent antimicrobials, protecting against several bacterial and fungal strains. This effect works against the food-borne pathogens E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus cereus. When it comes to fungal infections that could be found on the feet or other susceptible areas of the body, the eugenol from clove oil will break up the cell membranes of the spores and micelles of fungus. This has even been suggested in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis. The clove essential oil can be applied to the skin by using a carrier oil like coconut, tamanu, jojoba, or argan oil, just to name a few.

Another great use for clove oil is helping numb the pain. Dating back as far as the thirteenth century, clove oil has been used for tooth pain; the compound responsible for this is, yet again, eugenol. Using small amounts with a carrier oil for tooth pain has been shown to be an effective treatment option. In addition to these pain-numbing effects, the antimicrobial activity can help to cleanse the mouth. A few drops in a mouthwash or oral rinse could have great results, but make sure the solution is not being swallowed.
